Golden Wetting Aid #3591

1,250.001,989.00
Golden Wetting Aid is a concentrated additive used to reduce the surface tension of acrylic paint mixtures that have been heavily diluted with water, thereby increasing the slickness and flow of the paint. It is effective for achieving rich stains and allows colour washes to readily spread and absorb into raw canvas and other absorbent surfaces. Wetting Aid is a concentrated surfactant. A surfactant is a liquid, surface-active ingredient that reduces the surface tension of waterborne acrylics, thus improving wetting and maintaining the flow of the paint. Most acrylic paints and mediums contain low levels of surfactants, but when water is added the need to add additional surfactants increases.

Golden Retarder

Golden Acrylic Retarder is an additive used to increase the open (drying) time of acrylic paints. Useful for wet in wet techniques and reducing skinning on the palette. Retarder does not contain binding agents. To ensure adhesion, it is recommended that the addition of Retarder not exceed 15% (1:6) when mixed with colors or mediums.

Golden Acrylic Black Gesso #3560

2,097.00
Golden Gesso can be considered as the bridge between your support (canvas, board or chosen surface) and the paint. It is a flexible primer that seals and gives "tooth" to the substrates which promotes paint adhesion. It comes ready to use, but can be mixed with water for thinner applications. When applied in thin layers, Golden Gesso will conform to a variety of textured surfaces. It is available in black or white, and can be mixed with Golden Acrylics to produce a range of coloured motifs.

Golden Silverpoint Drawing Ground #3558

2,397.00
Golden Silverpoint / Drawing Ground is a liquid acrylic used for the preparation of supports for drawing media. The ground is designed for the achievement of fine detailed lines on a permanent, lightfast, flexible ground. Silverpoint / Drawing Ground is ideal for use with metal styli or other drawing tools. It is formulated with 100% acrylic polymer emulsion, a low viscosity fluid that contains high levels of titanium dioxide and prepares surfaces to readily accept marks from a metal stylus.

Golden Silverpoint / Drawing Ground is designed for thin applications only. When applied too thickly the film may crack upon curing. A single thin coat is typically sufficient.

It can be brush or spray applied to paper, primed canvas, wood or any surface that will accept a water-based coating. The most common substrate for metal point drawing is heavy weight hot pressed watercolor paper.

Note: Because lower weight papers are susceptible to buckling from the moisture in the Silverpoint / Drawing Ground, some artists may find taping the edges down will help prevent extensive warping.

Golden Absorbent Ground Primer (White) #3555

2,097.00
Golden Absorbent Ground (White) - Opaque Acrylic Primer for Water Media 8oz (237ml) Jar Useful for creating acrylic and traditional watercolour washes on gessoed surfaces. Use with Golden Fluid Acrylics and Acrylic Flow Release for intense staining effects. Golden Gessos & Grounds are products with 100% Acrylic Polymer Dispersion. Ready to use. Dried film has excellent flexibility, water and UV resistance. Minimum film formation temperature is 49°F / 9°C. Directions: Refer to the Golden website for instructions on using as a primer for oil paints. May be thinned with up to 25% water to improve leveling. Apply only to gessoed supports, allow each layer to dry completely between coats. Multiple coats increase absorbency. Due to the fragile, absorbent quality of the ground, finished paintings need to be protected. Best adhesion on clean, non-oily surfaces. Clean with soap and water.

Golden Sandable Hard Gesso #3551

2,097.00
Golden Sandable Hard Gesso is a 100% acrylic polymer emulsion designed to be sanded to create ultra-smooth and even surfaces on rigid substrates. This product is designed solely for use on inflexible substrates, such as wood, hardboard, or metal panels. If used on absorbent surfaces, such as canvas, cracking can occur. Apply in multiple thin layers, gradually building up to the desired thickness. Single thick layers could crack upon drying. Allow to dry completely before sanding, starting with coarser grit sandpaper before moving to finer grits for final smoothing.
