Clairefontaine's Calligraphy Pad contains 25 sheets of 130 g 'simili Japon' paper. This ivory-hued, satin-textured paper is suitable for classical calligraphy with nibs or brushes as well as relief printing or typography. The paper style-simili Japon-- was developed by the Schut Mill in the Netherlands during the late 1800s after the Schut family was impressed at how Japanese paper enhanced the performance of writing instruments during a visit. The development of this calligraphy pad, then, is a testament to the historic exchange of papermaking knowledge and a continued passion for beautiful paper.
